If your opinion of Mercedes-Benz drivers wasn’t very high already, for whatever reason, be prepared to shake your head at the owners of the even faster, haughtier new Brabus Rocket 900.
Brabus, a tuning company infamous for modding already-wild Mercedes-AMG models such as the G63 (and even the Smart car), has now turned its Monster-energy-drink-filled engineers toward the AMG GT S.
First thing’s first — the power. Brabus has taken the GT’s 4.0-litre V8 and enlarged it to 4.5 litres by boring and stroking it, as well as installing a billet crankshaft, billet connecting rods, and forged pistons. Larger turbochargers were added, and the net effect is an insane 900 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque. The zero-to-100-km/h sprint takes only 2.8 seconds, a dip of 0.3 seconds over the stock model, and moves it on to an electronically limited top speed of 330 km/h.
The vehicle also sports a full body kit with a massive wing, a ram-air intake system, a high-pressure fuel system, and a nine-speed automatic transmission with 4Matic+ AWD.
All of that swag doesn’t come cheap either. The Brabus 900 costs a massive 435,800 euros (around $680,000, here — for reference, that’s $561,400 more than the standard GT, which costs “just” $118,600 in Canada).
We know, sounds like an exercise in excess. We’re sure some of you are shaking your heads like we’d warned you you would. Thankfully, Brabus is only going to be making 10 of these monstrosities, which makes it pretty unlikely you’ll see one dicing in and out of traffic near you.
